SyFy axes SGU!
#1
Syfy has decided not to renew Stargate Universe for a third season.

The cable network will air the last 10 episodes of Season 2 of the action-adventure series, the third in the Stargate franchise, in the spring of next year.

Stargate Universe stars Robert Carlyle, David Blue and Ming-Na.

There has been at least one Stargate series, including Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis, on Syfy since 2002.

The news follows the network's decision to axe Battlestar Galactica prequel Caprica. Both Caprica and Stargate Universe had performed modestly in the ratings.

Syfy has an upcoming series to fill the hole, the U.S. version of Being Human, along with returning favorites Haven, Eureka and Warehouse 13.

After cancelling their original sci-fi series Stargate Universe last month, Syfy has decided to renew Sanctuary for a fourth season. I don’t understand why they cancelled “SGU” and then renewed Sanctuary when both shows have almost the same amount of viewers. I think fans of Stargate Universe won’t be happy with this news but certainly Sanctuary fans will be. These days there are more reality shows on Syfy than actual scripted series so renewing a proven show is a good move on Syfy’s part. Expect season four to premiere in the Fall.
